UFC 330 Highlights! Makhachev Nearly Ends Garry With Wild Head Kick

Islam Makhachev pushed his record-breaking win streak to 17 last night (Sat., Aug. 15, 2026) at UFC 330 LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Penn., outlasting a very game Ian Machado Garry via unanimous decision in the main event.

Makhachev was a wet blanket in the first round. He was quick to close the gap and grab a hold of Garry along the cage. Once there, Garry couldn’t do much of anything other than tire from the weight of Makhachev’s pressure. The tides turned a bit to begin the second round as Makhachev engaged in a striking match with Garry. The Irishman landed a few nice shots on the champion until Makhachev connected on a massive head kick that badly hurt Garry.

Makhachev appeared tired midway through the third round and it allowed Garry to stay at range and land strikes with precision, including a nasty head kick and dangerous oblique kicks. The momentum was shifting just a bit as Garry was gaining confidence and began to take over the standup. Makhachev changed levels in the fourth and nearly got a hold of Garry on the ground, but the challenger was able to scurry to the fence and get back to his feet. Makhachev would hold Garry there for the majority of the round though Garry was the one landing the actual damage.

The fifth round was all Makhachev as the champion was able to gain full back control and threatened with a rear-naked choke for minutes. Garry was able to defend Makhachev’s attempts to finish the fight, but it prevented any scenario of a potential comeback for “Future.” Instead, Makhachev killed the clock and cemented his first official UFC welterweight title defense, as well as breaking the record for most consecutive UFC wins (17).
