Von Miller, Cowboys reach agreement in rare homecoming opportunity

The NFL preseason is roughly halfway done and the regular season will be here in less than a month. There are a number of free agents who have been on the fence about retiring or finding a situation. One of those free agents is Von Miller. The former Super Bowl MVP has two Super Bowl rings, a decorated resume and a future trip to Canton on the horizon. However, Miller isn’t done yet. Now, he has a chance to play for his hometown team and perhaps conclude his career. He is expected to sign in the coming days and join the team he grew up watching. The former No. 2 overall pick has recorded 138.5 career sacks, 606 tackles, and 27 forced fumbles in 14 seasons, earning eight Pro Bowl selections, and three first-team All-Pro honors. He also won Super Bowl 50 MVP after recording 2.5 sacks in Denver’s victory over Carolina. Miller added a second championship ring with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021. Even at 37 years old, Miller showed he still had something left in the tank last season. He recorded nine sacks for the Washington Commanders in 2025, showing he can still contribute as a rotational pass rusher. That production should make him an intriguing addition. Born in DeSoto, Texas, Miller has never hidden his connection to the Cowboys, making this homecoming feel like a natural final chapter. Miller may no longer be the dominant defender who terrorized quarterbacks during his prime, but he can still provide value.
