The Alabama high school flag football season is around the corner and Gadsden-area standouts are getting ready to make their names heard.
The flag football season starts Aug. 20 in Alabama, but three Gadsden-area teams are waiting a couple days to get the season started. Last year, the area saw Gadsden City, Albertville and Boaz all make the playoffs — with Boaz advancing to the semifinals for the first time in the program's second season.
On Wednesday, The Gadsden Times announced the 17 players to watch headlined by Peyton Hall returns after winning the Player of the Year award the past two years. She comes back looking to get the Lady Pirates over the hump in the new 5A, joined by region rival Albertville. Gadsden City will move up to the largest class, 6A.
The poll closes on August 20th at noon CT.
