The Washington Huskies men's basketball team is looking to have much better success in the 2027 recruiting class than it did in the 2026 cycle. The Huskies pursued several top-25 players.

The Washington Huskies men's basketball team is looking to have much better success in the 2027 recruiting class than it did in the 2026 cycle. The Huskies pursued several top-25 players in the '26 recruiting cycle, but were unsuccessful in landing them. They ended up earning a commitment from Pacific Northwest native and three-star small forward Lattimore Ford. Washington filled out the remaining spots on its 15-man roster via the transfer portal and international recruits. The Huskies are making a clear effort to have better success in the 2027 and 2028 recruiting cycles, and have already made an impression on a top 100 player in the Class of '27. According to an article from Rivals.com reporter Joe Tipton, forward Deng Ngor is down to four schools: Washington, the Florida Gators, Duke Blue Devils and Ohio State Buckeyes. Ngor said the following about the Huskies in Tipton's article: "For Washington, I really like the coaching staff, especially Coach Danny Sprinkle and Coach Abdul Gaddy," Ngor said in the article. "Coach Abdul was also a McDonald’s All-American, so he’s been around the game. He knows what it’s like, and they’re really about development over there as well. Everybody on the staff is always in the gym, they said, and it’s all about the work. I’m going to go visit and see if it’s like that, and if it’s like what I’m hearing, then I’d love it there for sure." Ngor is listed as a power forward by 247Sports and a small forward by Rivals. The 6-foot-8, 200-pound forward attends Fort Erie International Academy in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada. Ngor is listed as the 80th-best overall player, 12th-best power forward and best player in Ontario, per the 247Sports composite. Rivals Industry rankings has him ranked as the 165th-best overall player in the class, 40th-best small forward in the class.

Ohio State has the second-best odds at 25.3%, Duke has the third-best odds at 21.6% and Florida has the fourth-best odds at 18%. Currently, Ngor has official visits scheduled with all of his final four teams. He'll visit the Buckeyes on Sept. 6, the Huskies on Sept. 18, the Gators on Sept. 22 and the Blue Devils on Oct. 15. Landing Ngor in the coming months would give Washington a good building block for its '27 recruiting class.
