The high school football season has officially kicked off.
Over the last two weeks, Hawaii and Georgia kicked things off for the rest of the country. This week, a majority of the country gets going while the following two weeks after will see states like Texas and Louisiana finally get their seasons started.
Georgia's first week of the season saw one program previously ranked in the Preseason Super 25 rankings drop out after an unpredicted loss. Could this week's slate of action result in more changes?
Here's who each of the USA TODAY Sports Super 25 programs kick their 2026 seasons off with.
1. IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL)
Friday, Aug. 21, at Lone Peak (UT), 7 p.m. MT
The Ascenders will head two time zones back to Utah for a season opener, taking on Lone Peak for the first time. IMG went to play Corner Canyon in two years ago and lost 35-34 after a failed two-point conversion late in the fourth quarter. The Ascenders will be favored in this one as expected, as many will have eyes on the new-look Ascenders team that has a new starting quarterback in Georgia commit Jayden Wade along with a revamped offensive line.
2. St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA)
Friday, Aug. 21, at No. 3 Bishop Gorman (NV), 7 p.m. PST
Two teams perennially among the best in the nation will face off for the first time in a decade. It's rare for a game this early to have implications for end-of-year national championship rankings, but the hunt for an undefeated season will end for either Bishop Gorman or St. John Bosco before September.
3. Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV)
Friday, Aug. 21, vs. No. 2 St. John Bosco (CA), 7 p.m. PST
Bishop Gorman will throw new quarterback Chance Thomas into the fire against St. John Bosco. For a team that historically feasts on in-state competition, games like these showcase the national prowess of the Gaels. They'll look to show that No. 3 is one or two spots too low.
4. St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, MD)
Friday, Aug. 28, at DeLand (FL), 7 p.m. ET
Arguably loaded with one of the most talent-heavy rosters in the country, the Panthers will get to showcase that talent down in the Sunshine State. DeLand is no pushover though. The Bulldogs went 13-1 last year, making a state championship appearance and bring back several key pieces, including quarterback Gardner Nordman and running back Taihj Moore.
5. Centennial (Corona, CA)
Thursday, Aug. 20, at Servite (CA), 7 p.m. PST
For the second year in a row, Centennial will start its season against Servite. It will be a good test for the Huskies before Trinity League competition ramps up over the following two weeks against Santa Margarita and Mater Dei.
6. Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA)
Friday, Aug. 21, vs. American Fork (UT), 7 p.m. PST
Mater Dei started last season slow, eking out unconvincing victories over a great St. Thomas Aquinas (FL) team and a good Kahuku (HI) team before losing in Week 3. This year, they'll face a Utah team in American Fork, which is coming off a 7-5 season and will be looking to show the start of last season (6-1) was truer than the back half (1-4).
7. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
Friday, Aug. 21, at Western, 7 p.m. ET
The Raiders are fresh off a dominant 49-0 preseason shutout win over a strong opponent in Cardinal Mooney and will have a much easier test against the Wildcats. Last year's clash between these two teams was largely one sided as St. Thomas handled business in a 45-6 drubbing. With the way Aquinas dominated on the road against the Cougars in the kickoff classic, there's no reason to think they won't do it again in Week 1.
8. Basha (Chandler, AZ)
Saturday, Aug. 29, vs. No. 22 Chandler (AZ), 7 p.m. MT
A rematch of last year's Open Division championship, Basha will look to replicate its 34-17 trouncing of Chandler. With a convincing win over another Super 25 team to start the season, the Bears would be in pole position as the team to beat in Arizona.

9. Thompson (Alabaster, AL)
Thursday, Aug. 20, at Central (AL), 7 p.m. CT
The Warriors kick off a highly anticipated 2026 season with a massive rematch against Central. These two played an instant-classic in the state semifinals last year with Thompson emerging with the 35-34 victory.

10. Waxahachie (TX)
Friday, Aug. 28, at Ennis (TX), 7 p.m. CT
Waxahachie opens its 2026 season facing a familiar foe in Ennis. This marks the fifth season in a row they've started off the year against each other with Waxahachie winning the previous four games by an average of 26.3 points. Last year Waxahachie won 44-13.
11. Buford (GA)
Saturday, Aug. 22, vs. Gainesville (GA), 5 p.m. ET
A national spotlight awaits the No. 11 team in the country, taking on Gainesville on ESPN. Buford and Baylor (TN), ranked just behind the Wolves, played two weeks ago in a scrimmage with Buford winning 20-13. Expect no shortage of talent in this one, as Gainesville will go for the upset and their first win over the Wolves since Sept. 7, 2012.

12. Baylor (Chattanooga, TN)
Thursday, Aug. 20, vs. No. 17 Brentwood Academy (TN), 8 p.m. ET
Five-star Tennessee running back commitment David Gabriel Georges and four-star Ole Miss quarterback pledge Keegan Croucher lead the reigning TSSAA Division II-AAA champions against the team they beat in the title game last year. This game is set to air on ESPN2.
13. Hamilton (Chandler, AZ)
Friday, Aug. 27, at Brophy College Prep, 7 p.m. PST
Hamilton had an argument as best team in Arizona last year before an injury to quarterback Jax Sculley. Healthy once again, they'll get a good test against a Brophy team that is regrouping a bit following the graduation of Division I players, including QB Case Vanden Bosch and WR Devin Fitzgerald.
14. Carrollton (GA)
Friday, Aug. 21, at Rome (GA), 7:30 p.m. ET
The Trojans had one of the most prolific offenses in the country a season ago, averaging 45.8 points and 409.9 yards per contest, headlined by a lot of seniors that have graduated. Despite those graduations, Carrollton returns Miami QB commit CJ Cypher, who threw for 2,178 yards and 26 touchdowns against three interceptions. How much has he developed from his freshman year to his sophomore year? A matchup against a Rome defense that allowed just 18.5 points per game last season should help answer that question.
15. DeMatha (Hyattsville, MD)
Thursday, Aug. 20, vs. Archbishop Carroll (NJ), 7 p.m. ET
The second-best team in Maryland led by four-star Auburn edge commit James Pace III, DeMatha will be heavily favored entering their Week 1 against the Lions. A win over Archbishop Carroll would push the Stags' winning streak to 22 games.
16. Duncanville (TX)
Friday, Aug. 28, at Allen (TX), 7 p.m. CT
The Panthers play a gauntlet of a schedule in 2026 and kick things off with a bang against an Allen team loaded with talent. Eagles quarterback Ty Snell runs the show now for Allen and holds a plethora of high Power Four offers. It should be a fun quarterback duel between Snell and Duncanville's Maximus Denson.
17. Brentwood Academy (TN)
Thursday, Aug. 20, at No. 13 Baylor (TN), 8 p.m. ET
Baylor may steal the spotlight, but the Eagles are just as loaded with talent and looking to avenge last year's 28-24 championship loss to the Red Raiders. Tennessee fans will be tuning into this one, not only to see Gabriel Georges, but four-star wide receiver Kesean Bowman and four-star linebacker Kenneth Simon II who are also committed to the Volunteers.

18. Creekside (Fairburn, GA)
Friday, Aug. 21, vs. Clay-Chalkville (AL), 7 p.m. ET
Which 15 game win streak will come to an end? Both the Seminoles and Cougars ran the table last season, going 15-0 with state titles in their respective classifications. Creekside scored 845 points last year over 15 games, averaging 56.3 per contest with an offense that does not return much at the skill positions, outside of 1,600-yard rusher Gary Walker (Clemson) and 600-yard receiver Armani Hill (Boston College). Tarleton State commit Savoy Nichols will have the keys to the offense, but don't be shocked if this unit tries to run the football with Walker early on against a solid Clay-Chalkville defense.
19. Carol City (Miami, FL)
Friday, Aug. 21, at Mainland (FL), 7 p.m. PST
Will there be more late game fireworks in this clash? Carol City went on the road to take on a two-time state champion in West Boca Raton, escaping with a 24-23 win after 5-star Miami commit Nick Lennear had a ridiculous catch in the back corner of the end zone in overtime. The Chiefs and their front seven impressed against a Bulls team that has historically ran the football well during their two state title runs, making them a road favorite despite the lengthy trip up I-95.
20. Southlake Carroll (TX)
Thursday, Aug. 27, vs. Jenks (OK), 7 p.m.CT
In the high school version of the Red River Rivalry, the Dragons will take on one of Oklahoma's best at the Cotton Bowl. The inaugural State Line Showdown should draw crowds by the thousands as both programs are loaded with future Power Four talent. Southlake Carroll's receiver duo of Blake Gunter and Brody Knowles could prove to be the difference.
21. Chandler (AZ)
Saturday, Aug. 29, at No. 8 Basha (AZ), 7 p.m. MT
Chandler immediately starts with a rematch of last year's 34-17 championship loss to Basha. Will Mencl is looking to prove himself among the best quarterbacks in the nation, and to do so, he'll have to lead the Wolves against an elite defense.

22. American Heritage (Plantation, FL)
Friday, Aug. 21, vs. West Boca Raton (FL), 7 p.m. ET
It's a battle of defending state champions in Plantation, as the Patriots (4A) will take on the Bulls (6A) in what's expected to be the state's top matchup. Texas commit Neimann Lawrence will look to turn heads against an athletic West Boca secondary that gave Carol City issues in some spots, and will be largely breaking in a new receiving corps after the graduations of multiple seniors. With the defensive talent West Boca has and the way they performed in last week's kickoff classic against the Chiefs, don't be shocked if this game is just as tight.
23. Mount Carmel (IL)
Saturday, Aug. 22, vs. East St. Louis (IL), 6 p.m. CT
Taking the stage at Illinois State against another one of the state's premier powers, the Caravan will look to add onto a winning streak that's hit 19 games. East St. Louis won't be a pushover though as the Flyers are led by Auburn four-star running back commit Myson Johnson-Cook and Florida four-star cornerback pledge Raheem Floyd. This is the first time the two sides have played since 2023.
24. Anderson (Cincinnati, OH)
Friday, Aug. 21, vs. Trinity (KY), 7 p.m. ET
The Raptors kick off their campaign with arguably the hardest game they'll play in the regular season. Trinity is a powerhouse program out of Louisville and winners of several state titles. A key matchup in this game will be Anderson quarterback Owen Scalf going against Trinity four-star cornerback and Vanderbilt commitment Allen Evans.

25. Hough (Cornelius, NC)
Friday, Aug. 21, at Northwestern (SC), 7 p.m. ET
The Huskies head south to play one of South Carolina's premier programs in a battle between two 2025 state champions. This should be one of the best quarterback matchups, pitting Hough's Ethan Royal (2,993 total yards, 43 total touchdowns in 2025) against Northwestern's Xavier Means (4,112 yards, 52 total touchdowns in 2025).
