After a week of feisty joint practices, the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers get it on under the Friday night lights.
\nSeveral brawls erupted over the course of the week in the thick New Jersey heat and humidity, with David Bailey reportedly at the center of one of them. In any case, both squads get to hit each other for real in their preseason Week 1 matchup.
\nBailey, the No. 2 overall pick, has shown flashes during training camp of being a legitimate disruptor in the passing game. He'll get the opportunity to showcase that ability for the first time on Friday night, after head coach Aaron Glenn made it clear that starters will play throughout the course of the preseason.
\nThe Buccaneers enter training camp with a number of contract issues that they may not get resolved any time soon. Quarterback Baker Mayfield was vocally displeased with how Tampa Bay brass handled his contract situation, which has created a slight sense of awkwardness as the season gets underway.
\nOn the other side of the ball, defensive tackle Vita Vea isn't just seeking a new deal, but a new team. The defensive anchor requested a trade, but there's no resolution in sight.
