The Charlotte Hornets have been very active this offseason and made another move on Friday, acquiring veteran guard Dennis Schroder from the Cleveland Cavaliers. They also landed cash in the deal while sending Tre Mann to the Cavs.
Schroder will come in and be a backup point guard for the Hornets behind Coby White, who inked a new deal this offseason.
Schroder has been a solid guard over the years, averaging 10.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game in the 2025-26 season, shooting 40.5 percent from the field and 32.9 percent from three-point range.
The 32-year-old guard could be a quality piece for the bench unit behind White. However, it will affect rookie guard Christian Anderson Jr.'s role. Charlotte selected Anderson with the 18th overall pick in the draft, and he will now have time to develop and can be inserted into the rotation once he is ready.

The 20-year-old guard played at a high level at Texas Tech during the 2025-26 season, averaging 18.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, shooting 47.2 percent from the field and 41.5 percent from the downtown.
Anderson has shown he can be an elite playmaker while shooting and scoring efficiently. With his ability to space the floor, he could fit well in almost any lineup.
The Hornets are ushering in a new era of basketball after trading away LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges this offseason and building upon their young core. Charlotte has built a quality roster led by Kon Knueppel and Brandon Miller, with other young pieces and a ton of future draft capital.
White will play a major role alongside Knueppel and Miller as he signed a three-year, $74 million deal this offseason.
White played well for the Hornets in the 2025-26 season, averaging 15.6 points, three rebounds, and three assists, shooting an efficient 46.1 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from behind the arc.
While White will be effective in the starting lineup, having Schroder and Anderson off the bench will give Charlotte plenty of depth at the point guard position.
