Arsenal are set to get their 2026/27 season underway on Sunday afternoon when they take on Manchester City in the Community Shield.
The Gunners enjoyed much success in the previous campaign when they clinched the Premier League title and made it to the Champions League final.
They are now going head-to-head with Man City, who have been the Gunners’ main rivals in the title race during several recent seasons.
It should be an interesting clash between the two heavyweights, but don’t expect US President Donald Trump to be tuning in.
Piers Morgan asked Donald Trump if he is an Arsenal fan
Piers Morgan is a pretty vocal Arsenal supporter, and once got the chance to interview Trump back in 2018.
During the interview, as quoted by Sport Bible, Morgan gifted the current President an Arsenal shirt with his name on the back.
Trump responded by saying: “That’s beautiful, I have a son who does love this sport.”
Piers then asked: “And he loves Arsenal, right? Are you an Arsenal fan, too?”
But Trump confirmed that he does not support the Gunners, replying: “Not particularly, no,” before adding: “I have a friend who owns Manchester United.” (Edward Glazer).
Meanwhile, in 2026, Trump became more involved in soccer thanks to the World Cup, which was hosted across North America.
However, the US President has been criticised by fans after he showed support for Gianni Infantino following the FIFA official’s plans to sell off part of the World Cup to private investors coming to light.
One of those was Joshua Kushner, the brother of Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
