Just a few days after an intense Iowa race, the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series is headed to Virginia's capital city for the annual Cook Out 400.
Richmond Raceway has been a stop on the national circuit since 1953, but the 0.75-mile track makes for some unpredictable conditions. It's the only three-quarter-mile venue that the Cup Series visits, and its aged surface — which hasn't been repaved in over 20 years — causes heavy tire wear.
With just three races remaining before the Chase playoff races begin, four drivers have already clinched a spot, including Denny Hamlin, Ty Gibbs, Ryan Blaney and Tyler Reddick.
With the playoffs creeping up, each race is crucial in deciding the 16-driver field.
