Six games tonight get the 2026 NFL preseason off and running. While the Miami Dolphins won't be involved, their opening game isn't far away.
The Fins began joint practices with the Washington Commanders ahead of their first preseason game, one that will see the Miami debut of quarterback Malik Willis. It will also be Jeff Hafley's first game as head coach since he left Boston College to be the Green Bay Packers' defensive coordinator in 2024.
They're far from the only new facesDolphins fans will see, as the team went through a wholesale teardown after a second straight losing season in 2025. A whole host of rookies will see their first NFL action, from first-round draft picks Kadyn Proctor and Chris Johnson to new WR1 Caleb Douglas and hair-on-fire linebacker Jacob Rodriguez.

The Dolphins kick off their preseason on Friday, Aug. 14, against the Washington Commanders. The game will air on CBS 4 Miami and WPTV (NBC Channel 5) in West Palm Beach. Streaming options include Fubo, which offers a free trial for new subscribers.
