BATON ROUGE — Heading into Lane Kiffin's first season in Baton Rouge, LSU football is a consensus preseason ranked team.
The Tigers came in at No. 11 in the first Associated Press Top 25 poll of the 2026 season. The rankings were released Monday.
Earlier this month, LSU was voted No. 13 in the US LBM Preseason Coaches Poll.

Despite the Kiffin era having not officially started yet, expectations have steadily grown about what his first LSU team will look like and how it'll perform this year.
The Tigers are the sixth highest ranked team in the SEC behind No. 3 Georgia, No. 5 Texas, No. 8 Texas A&M, No. 9 Ole Miss, No. 10 Oklahoma and No. 11 LSU. Other SEC teams are No. 13 Alabama and No. 20 Tennessee. LSU will end up playing five of the eight ranked SEC teams (Texas, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Alabama and Tennessee) this season.
LSU's season-opening opponent, Clemson, was the first team out of the preseason top 25, receiving 112 voting points.
