In a little more than two weeks, NBA 2K27, the latest version of the video game franchise, will be released. Some players will receive early access on Aug. 28, and the general release will take place on Sept. 4.
Every year, fans look forward to the ratings that players receive in this game, not just in terms of specific abilities but also their overall rating. This year, Luka Doncic of the Los Angeles Lakers is the fourth-highest-rated player in the game, behind only Nikola Jokic, Victor Wembanyama and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Last season, Doncic averaged 33.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 1.6 steals a game and won his second scoring title in three years.

Doncic, 27, may be just beginning the prime of his career. Last summer, perhaps in response to a rising amount of criticism he was getting, he improved his diet, got into a strength and conditioning program and dropped plenty of extra weight. He seemed to be in better shape this past season, and it even looked like his defense, which has long been considered a big weakness for him, improved.
He will now be the Lakers' unquestioned franchise player with LeBron James joining the Philadelphia 76ers. He is about to hold a minicamp for his teammates later this week, and the franchise has assembled a more balanced roster around him, even if it won't be a championship contender this coming season.
