SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs will take the field for the first time this season in a preseason clash against the Los Angeles Rams at Arrowhead Stadium this Saturday. The Chiefs are looking to bounce back this season after a disappointing 6-11 season in 2025. This offseason saw the Chiefs make a major signing at running back with Kenneth Walker III from the Super Bowl LX champion Seattle Seahawks, as well as the return of cornerback L'Jarius Sneed and Eric Bieniemy as offensive coordinator. Andy Reid has already confirmed that Patrick Mahomes will not play in the Chiefs' first preseason game, and has hinted he may be held out for the entire preseason as he continues to recover from the ACL injury he suffered last season. Justin Fields, whom the Chiefs acquired in a trade with the New York Jets this offseason, is expected to start at quarterback. Here's the preseason schedule for the Chiefs this year:
Saturday, Aug. 15: Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Rams at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22: Chiefs at Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28: Chiefs vs. Seattle Seahawks at 7 p.m.
