The Panthers went 8-9 last season, a record that was shockingly still good enough to win the NFC South in what was a very down season for the division at large. Even so, Carolina gave the Los Angeles Rams quite the fight in the wild-card round, ultimately falling 34-31. Former No. 1 pick Bryce Young was up and down in his playoff debut, throwing one touchdown to go with one interception and connecting on just 21 of his 40 pass attempts for 264 yards. Receiver Jalen Coker had a huge game in the defeat, catching nine passes for 134 yards and catching a touchdown.

The Bills, meanwhile, will enter the 2026 season with a new head coach after the team parted ways with former coach Sean McDermott, who led the team from 2017 to 2025. The team promoted offensive coordinator Joe Brady to head coach this offseason. The Bills went 12-5 last season but fell in the divisional round of the playoffs to the Denver Broncos, which was troubling considering Buffalo was led by All-Pro quarterback Josh Allen, while Denver had second-year quarterback Bo Nix under center.
