The Vikings made news recently after head coach Kevin O’Connell named eighth-year signal-caller Kyler Murray the team’s starting quarterback for Week 1. Murray won the contested quarterback battle over second-year passer JJ McCarthy, who wasn’t all that impressive as a rookie last season. McCarthy threw 11 touchdowns to 12 interceptions last season, while throwing for 1,632 yards on a mediocre 57.6 completion percentage.
Overall, Minnesota went 9-8 last season and just missed the playoffs, making 2026 a hugely important year in O’Connell’s tenure.

The Giants, meanwhile, will also be interesting to watch this season after taking head coach John Harbaugh from the Baltimore Ravens. Many talk about the Ravens’ poor 2025 season, one that saw them go 8-9 and miss the playoffs under Harbaugh, but the two seasons prior to that, Baltimore went 13-4 and 12-5, reaching the AFC Championship Game in 2023.
It’ll be fascinating to see what Harbaugh does in his first season in New York, with young gunslinger Jaxson Dart under center and exciting running back Cam Skattebo set to return from injury. Dart threw 15 touchdowns as a rookie last season and only had five interceptions, completing 63.7 percent of his passes and throwing for 2,272 yards, setting him up for a potentially big second season in 2026.
