If he leaves, the Yankees will need to find a new second baseman. The top option to replace him may be Anthony Volpe. With George Lombard Jr. in the big leagues now, Volpe's best path back to the Yankees is at second base. The team sent him down to Triple-A, and if he can figure out his offensive woes, he could be in line to return as a second baseman. Outside options for the Yankees are not necessarily great. Luis Arraez would be the top free agent at second base. He is trying to win his fourth batting title and was an All-Star this year. His defense has always been a knock on his game, but this year, he has been elite defensively at second base.
