MASON − Fans at the Lindner Family Tennis Center on Saturday, Aug. 15 saw an early shocker at the Cincinnati Open when Novak Djokovic was beaten in the Round of 64 by Thiago Agustin Tirante.

Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam winner, had previously reached the Cincinnati Open finals eight times, winning three Rookwood Cups. He was making his first appearance in Mason since defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the 2023 final in the longest match in tournament history (3 hours, 49 minutes).

Tirante is now 23-13 this season and his ATP1000 success continues. At such tournaments this year, he is 10-4, reaching the Round of 16 at the Canadian Open last week and the Italian Open in May

Thiago Agustin Tirante, of Argentina, returns to Novak Djokovic, of Serbia, at the Cincinnati Open at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio, on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
