Wladimir Klitschko was one of the most successful heavyweight boxers of his generation and was also known for his long-term relationship with actress Hayden Panettiere, who died on August 16 aged 36.
The former couple met at a party in 2008 before beginning their relationship in 2009. They became engaged in 2013 and welcomed their daughter, Kaya Evdokia Klitschko, in December 2014.
Klitschko and Panettiere eventually split in 2018, with Klitschko later gaining full custody of Kaya. Their daughter subsequently lived with her father in Europe, while Panettiere continued to maintain a relationship with her.

Wladimir Klitschko built a legendary heavyweight career
Born in 1976 in what is now Kazakhstan, Klitschko followed his older brother Vitali into boxing and became a standout amateur before turning professional.
His biggest early achievement came at the 1996 Olympics, where he won a gold medal for Ukraine in the super-heavyweight division. He then turned professional later that year.
Klitschko went on to hold heavyweight world titles with the WBA, IBF and WBO, as well as the IBO and Ring Magazine belts.
His professional record finished at 64 wins, including 53 knockouts, against five defeats. He remained a major force in the division for years, with his defining run beginning after 2004.
Away from boxing, Klitschko also pursued an academic career. He earned a PhD in sports science in 2001, with his dissertation focusing on training methods for young athletes and physical development.

Klitschko’s relationship with Panettiere remained a major part of his public profile. The actress once recalled their first meeting, joking that she called him ‘huge’ before he replied that she was ‘tiny’.
The pair later became parents, with Panettiere describing Klitschko as a devoted father after Kaya was born.
Klitschko has also remained heavily involved in supporting Ukraine. He and Vitali have been vocal defenders of their home country, particularly following Russia’s invasion in 2022.
His estimated net worth is around $90 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth, although that figure has not been officially verified by Klitschko.
Today, Klitschko is perhaps best known outside boxing as Panettiere’s former fiance and the father of her daughter, but his legacy inside the ring remains significant.
