Why Jayson Tatum's Viral Workout Video Has Celtics Fans Divided originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here. We've reached the viral workout portion of the offseason. On Monday, the Boston Celtics shared four clips from one of Jayson Tatum's recent workouts. The post, which now has over 250,000 views on X, shows Tatum hitting a one-legged 3-pointer, knocking down a fadeaway jumper, draining catch-and-shoot 3s and putting some work in the weight room. Of the four videos, the one-legged 3-pointer is getting the most attention. It's a shot we've seen Tatum take and actually make in an NBA game before, but Celtics fans are divided on whether it's actually worth him working on. MVP predictions were mixed in with plenty of fans urging him to move on from it. "I hope he doesn’t try that one-legged jumper," one fan wrote. "He tried that a couple times last year and they were duds." "Tatum out here only able to shoot one-legged 3s. The Ls keep piling up for the Celtics," another user replied. "He genuinely trying to add a one-legged three to his game," a third user commented with a heartbreak emoji.
The fall will tell what the summer was doing ⏳ pic.twitter.com/OgWYgfMHwa — Boston Celtics (@celtics) August 17, 2026 MORE: Here Are the 11 Players Ranked Ahead of Celtics' Jayson Tatum in NBA 2K27 The Celtics certainly hope Tatum will be a more reliable 3-point shooter this season than last, when he attempted 8.9 3-pointers per game and shot 32.9 percent from deep. However, the one-legged 3s some fans are concerned about made up a minuscule portion of his attempts. Tatum attempted 143 3-pointers last season. By my count, he took four one-legged 3-pointers, all four of which he missed. This is a good time to remind you that NBA players go viral every offseason for things they will never actually do in a game. The difference with Tatum is that he might take the occasional one-legged 3, but it's probably not going to make or break Boston's season. More Celtics
