Why Lucumi decided to choose Juventus over Inter Milan

Inter Milan tried to hijack Juventus’ move for Jhon Lucumi this summer, but the defender is now set to move to the Allianz Stadium to play for the Bianconeri. Lucumi has established himself as one of the best defenders in Serie A since joining Bologna, and Juventus believe he is one of the top players they could sign.

The centre-back also wanted the move to Turin, and the men at the Allianz Stadium have now secured an agreement to sign him. His preference for Juventus was clear throughout the negotiations, even when other clubs attempted to convince him to choose a different destination.

Lucumi Rejects Como Approach

Before Juventus secured the agreement, Como showed serious interest in Lucumi’s signature and even reached a deal with Bologna to sign him. However, the defender refused to join Cesc Fabregas’ side and insisted that Juventus were the only club he wanted to join.

Lucumi has now got his wish, but Inter Milan also emerged as an alternative. Given Inter’s status as one of the top clubs in the country, his decision to reject their approach raises the question of why he was so determined to join Juventus.

The defender ultimately placed greater importance on the project being developed at the Allianz Stadium. His decision suggests that the plans presented to him by Juventus made a stronger impression than the alternative options available.

Spalletti Helps Convince Lucumi

As reported by Tuttomercatoweb, Lucumi chose Juventus because of the technical project the Bianconeri are working on. His discussions with Luciano Spalletti played an important role in convincing him that Turin was the right destination.

After speaking with the manager, Lucumi was sold on the project at the Allianz Stadium and came to believe that it was the best fit for him as a player at this stage of his career. That conviction ultimately led him to turn down Inter and maintain his preference for Juventus.

The defender will now begin his new chapter in Turin with the confidence that he has joined the club he wanted. Juventus will hope his decision is rewarded with strong performances and that he can quickly establish himself as an important part of Spalletti’s plans.

With Lucumi choosing Juventus despite interest from Como and Inter, the Bianconeri can be pleased that their project convinced the defender to make Turin his preferred destination.
