Roma’s move for Inter wingback Luis Henrique is not put on hold.
As explained by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Giallorossi are prioritising signing a forward before reinforcing at the back.
To that end, they were getting close to agreeing a deal for Porto star Rodrigo Mora, but the Dragões have put tight conditions on the loan deal Roma were proposing, resulting in a loan deal that could easily become an obligation to buy next summer for close to €50 million, something the Italian club are reluctant to accept as things stand.
If the standoff with Porto persists, Roma may opt to look elsewhere, though it is expected they will focus on getting an attacker first before bringing their focus back to Henrique.
A choice Roma can afford to make
Despite the player ready to move, and the club having agreed terms with Inter, who in turn can afford to let him go with Djed Spence’s arrival imminent, it’s understandable why Roma are choosing to wait.
Their need on the attacking side of things is more pressing. It a deal for Mora does not happen, they will need to start anew, and it doesn’t look like Porto president André Villas-Boas would be inclined to relent in his demands.
Moreover, the recent arrival of Nahuel Molina from Atletico Madrid means Roma do have legs at the back, enabling them to put aside the Henrique deal for the time being.
