The Minnesota Twins traveled to Iowa for last night's Field of Dreams Game against the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Phillies and Twins were allowed to carry a 27-man roster for the game. However, roster crunches forced them to lower that number back to 26 today.
According to The Athletic's Dan Hayes, the Twins have designated catcher Alex Jackson for assignment.
"That squeezed Jackson, who is out of options and therefore needs to be dropped from the 40-man to take him off the big-league club," Anthony Franco of MLB Trade Rumors wrote. "He has felt superfluous on this roster for a month, making him an unsurprising cut."
Minnesota called up Jackson when Ryan Jeffers went on the injured list with a broken hamate bone.

He appeared in 29 games in the Majors with the Twins, batting .303/.333/.409 with one home run, five RBIs, and a .742 OPS.
Jackson is a .174 hitter with 12 homers and a .557 OPS in 189 career games with six different clubs, including last year's stint with the Baltimore Orioles.
Now that Jeffers has returned, he and Victor Caratini will be Minnesota's catching duo as the AL Central club makes a push towards the postseason.
