MARKHAM, Ontario – After the street course for IndyCar's Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham was behind on its construction Thursday afternoon, the track has come together overnight. While USF2000 and USF Pro 2000 haven't yet taken the track for their 9 and 10 a.m. practices, respectively, IndyCar's first practice of the weekend is still expected to begin at 3:05 p.m.
With a brand new street course that was moved to Markham, a Toronto suburb more than 20 miles away from the downtown Toronto neighborhood the series is accustomed to racing in, the track needed work to be ready for the weekend. Since Thursday, more walling, fencing, tire barriers and timing lines have been installed. Event staff is still installing pedestrian bridges, barriers in runoff areas and the flag stand at the start-finish line.

On Thursday, Rahal Letterman Lanigan driver Graham Rahal told IndyStar he was "not sure how we see cars on track tomorrow," although Rahal said he thinks he was wrong during the 8 a.m. track walk.
This is the first year that IndyCar has raced in Markham after racing at Exhibition Place in 37 of the past 40 years. The race at Exhibition Place was on a year-to-year contract, and after men's FIFA World Cup matches at BMO Field made IndyCar's return unlikely in 2026, the series and Green Savoree Racing Promotions agreed to a five-year deal to race on the streets of Markham. Green Savoree Racing Promotions also owns and manages the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and Grand Prix of Portland.
