The legendary sisters have been awarded a doubles wild card for the Aug. 11-23 tournament at the Lindner Family Tennis Center. Venus Williams also received a singles wild card.

When do Venus and Serena Williams play?
The Williams sisters are expected to play their opening doubles match several days into the Cincinnati Open, which began Aug. 13, according to The Athletic. The date, time and opponents have not yet been announced. However, first-round doubles matches are scheduled for Aug. 16-17, according to the Women's Tennis Association.
Separately, Venus Williams will face Colombian player Emiliana Arango in her first singles match at 1 p.m. ET Friday on the Grandstand Court.

When did Venus and Serena Williams last play the Cincinnati Open?
In her penultimate tournament before stepping away from the sport in 2022, Serena Williams lost in the Round of 64 in the Cincinnati Open, then known as the Western & Southern Open, in straight sets to Emma Raducanu.
Williams, a 23-time major champion, won the Cincinnati Open in back-to-back years (2014-15). She also reached the final in 2013, where she lost to Victoria Azarenka in three sets.
Venus Williams, meanwhile, lost in the first round of the 2025 Cincinnati Open to Spain's Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. According to the tournament's website, Venus Williams owns a 12-10 record in Cincinnati. She reached the semifinals in 2012 and advanced to the quarterfinals in 2019.
Venus and Serena Williams doubles history
As a doubles team, the Williams sisters have won 14 Grand Slam titles and three Olympic gold medals. They last played together at the 2022 U.S. Open. This year's Cincinnati Open marks the sisters' first appearance as doubles partners in the tournament.
