The marquee matchup drew a 178 percent audience increase compared to last year’s ESPN numbers in WNBA regular season coverage. As many as 4 million viewers tuned in to watch the contest from 7:15-7:29 p.m. ET.
With Fever star point guard Caitlin Clark constantly being a big draw and the Dream having one of her main rivals in forward Angel Reese, the game was expected to garner a ton of attention.
The game also lived up to the hype, as it had an exciting ending. The Dream nearly won it in thrilling fashion in regulation, but they missed consecutive shots in the dying seconds of the fourth quarter, resulting in overtime. The Fever took advantage of the opportunity and scored a 95-91 victory to stretch their winning streak to four games.
Clark posted 26 points on 9-for-20 shooting while adding nine assists and three rebounds in 41 minutes of action. Kelasey Mitchell added 20 points on 9-for-22 shooting. The Dream, meanwhile, were paced by Allisha Gray, who dropped 32 points on 11-for-24 shooting. Reese came up with a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds.
With their win, the Fever managed to tie their regular-season series against Atlanta at 2-2.
