Wolves head coach Cesar Peixoto says his side will embrace the pressure of being among the favourites for automatic promotion, and he is looking forward to showing the world how his teams.

Wolves head coach Cesar Peixoto says his side will "embrace" the pressure of being among the favourites for automatic promotion, and he is looking forward to "showing the world" how his teams can play in his first job in English football. The Portuguese is preparing Wolves for their first campaign in the Championship since 2017-18 and is targeting an immediate return to the Premier League following last season's relegation. Having replaced Rob Edwards in the wake of their demotion, the former Gil Vicente boss says he is comfortable with being tipped to take Wolves straight back up. "It's normal. You have to embrace it. It's a positive pressure for me," he told BBC Radio WM. "It's important we know the club, our team, our players, our big goal and we have to work hard to be ready to fight for three points in all of these games. "When we don't win - stay organised, have a clear idea of the game, stay humble. "To stay in first to get promoted - it's our big goal."

How will relegated trio fare in the Championship? Wolves see off Port Vale to earn Peixoto first win It's a new era, the past is the past - Peixoto Wolves appoint Portuguese Peixoto as new boss

Having managed exclusively in his home country, Peixoto is getting his first taste of football in England, having working in the top three leagues in Portugal. With the demands of negotiating the challenge of the Championship beginning against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, Peixoto says he has an affinity with the league through Wolves's recent links to Portugal through former boss Nuno Espirito Santo and ex-stars like Rúben Neves, Diogo Jota and João Moutinho, along with current players Jose Sa and Rodrigo Gomes. "I see a lot of games because of the Portuguese guys and I know a lot about English football," he said. "I observe and analyse the Championship - I understand what we need to be competitive in this league." Peixoto added he "came as soon as possible" when the Wolves job was offered and has a clear idea how he wants to represent his style. "All the managers want to coach in England and to do my work, to put my idea of the game, to show the world what I want from the game, from my team and for me - it's an important opportunity," he said. "I'm ready to do a great job."

'Raul is an important player for us - we expect him to score goals' Peixoto also underlined the key role returning striker Raul Jimenez will play in their promotion challenge. The Mexico forward will miss the visit of Rovers as he continues to regain full fitness after the World Cup, but Peixoto believes he will have a big impact when he is ready. "Raul is an important player for us, to the fans. We expect him to score goals - it's what he does normally and well. "Outside the pitch, [he is] a leader, a guy who the team-mates look at as a good professional. On the pitch, you have the quality, the goals, the experience to help us improve. "He's a very, very important player for us during the season."
