The Los Angeles Dodgers desperately needed to rinse out the bad taste in their mouth that they experienced from Thursday's combustion of a loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.  Yoshinobu Yamamoto answered the call for help. The Dodgers ace struck out nine over six innings and allowed just one earned run in the 3-1 victory over the Brewers.  Yamamoto punches out nine in six quality innings For Yamamoto, this marks the 19th time in his 22 starts this season that he's reached six or more innings. His previous start against the Boston Red Sox broke his streak of nine consecutive outings in which he reached six innings or more (5.2 innings), but the main outlier for that result was the high pitch count.  Aug 14, 2026; Los Angeles, California, USA; Los AngelesDodgerspitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto (18) throws during the first inning against the Milwaukee Brewers at Dodger Stadium -- Kirby Lee-Imagn Images The same result of a high pitch count was apparent through Yamamoto's first inning as he needed 26 pitches to record the first three outs, but that's when the strikeouts began to rack up.  For those nine punchouts, the fastball was his prominent pitch of choice, picking up three strikeouts on a 29% whiff. He paired his heater well with a cutter/slider combination, which combined for four strikeouts.  Home runs by Pages, Edman fuel Dodgers' offense  Mookie Betts, who kicked off his homestand picking up six hits across the three-game sweep against the Kansas City Royals, led the charge in the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single.  Los Angeles was blanked for the next three innings by Brewers starter Robert Gasser before Andy Pages cranked the 20th home run of his campaign — a go-ahead solo shot to left field — in the fifth inning.  Tommy Edman followed that up in the sixth inning with a much-needed insurance run via a solo shot, extending the Dodgers' lead to 3-1.  Aug 14, 2026; Los Angeles, California, USA; Los AngelesDodgerscenter fielder Andy Pages (44) hits a single during the third inning against the Milwaukee Brewers at Dodger Stadium. -- Kirby Lee-Imagn Images The Dodgers bullpen recovered from their nightmare of an appearance on Thursday's series opener.  Evan Phillips recorded a scoreless seventh inning, and Tanner Scott took over in the eighth. Scott needed just 19 pitches to retire the side and hand off the final three outs to Edwin Díaz.  Coming out of the bullpen gates, the sound of Díaz's entrance trumpets blaring received mixed reactions from the Los Angeles faithful.  And again, the Dodgers closer did not make this save appearance easy. He found himself with the bases full of Brewers after two walks and a hit batsman put Joey Ortiz up to the plate.  Díaz induced a ground ball to Betts at short, and the Dodgers evened the series with Milwaukee at a game apiece, with the right-hander recording his 260th career save.  With the win, the Dodgers improve to 74-49 on the season. Looking ahead to Saturday, Los Angeles faces a real test as Jacob Misiorowski takes the mound for Milwaukee.  Los Angeles will send out Justin Wrobleski in return.  A battle of the Ski's is set to take place at Dodger Stadium.
