A media tour is lead inside the new Highmark Stadium, home of the Buffalo Bills, Tuesday, June 23, 2026 in Orchard Park.

The Buffalo Bills spent an estimated $2.2 billion on their new stadium, including about $850 million in taxpayer money. Unfortunately, fans are already noticing some major problems before it’s even hosted a game.

Over the past several days, some photos have surfaced showing several seats with obstructed views, sparking widespread outrage from the NFL community. The architect of the stadium, however, has seemingly dismissed those concerns.

Bills Stadium Sparks Outrage

Over the past several days, the new stadium has been relentlessly mocked on social media after photos surfaced showing several obstructed-view seats.

There seems to be a particular issue with the class barriers on the concourse.

Whoever designed the new Bills stadium should wasn’t very keen to detail. Imagine paying tens of thousands on PSLs and season tickets and walk into a view like this… pic.twitter.com/mGhzbCaMVs

While the photos showed just a few seats, the user sharing the photos pointed out that these obstructions actually impact thousands of people throughout the stadium.

“It affects every single section in the entire upper deck of the stadium for the first 5-10 rows (depending on your height). That is thousands of people…” the user wrote.

Needless to say, these photos sparked widespread outrage.

“Extreme MetLife vibes from all the videos and photos I’ve been seeing of the new Bills stadium,” wrote Jack Mac of Barstool Sports in a post on X.

“So not hating even a little bit. This is one of the worst stadiums ever built in history. Genuinely the Roman’s figured this out thousands of years ago,” wrote prominent sports betting personality Keg in a post.

“This is bad, don’t do this, Chiefs,” prominent Kansas City Chiefs blog Arrowhead Live wrote in a post.

“Taxpayers paid over $850 MILLION for this,” sports betting personality Matteo Jenks added.

“I’d be furious if I paid thousands for a PSL and ended up with an obstructed-view seat. The Bills’ stadium was designed by Populous; the Broncos will use Manica as their stadium architects,” wrote Denver Broncos reporter Andrew Mason in a post on X.

“Oof – a couple bad sight lines,” wrote Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 The Fan in a post.

“Yikes! Imagine if these were the views for the game you paid for,” wrote Tony Farmer of the Last Man Standing podcast.

Architect Breaks His Silence

While fans are not happy with the obstructed views, the stadium’s architect has explained that these obstructed views were not an oversight, but part of the design.

He explained that these views are a direct result of trying to allow fans to be closer to the field.

“You will find some level of obstruction in every stadium in the world,” Jonathan Mallie, global director and managing director of Populous’ Americas practice, told Michael Petro of the Buffalo News. “The goal was to bring everybody closer to the field and create an upper deck with an incredible proximity and presence within the bowl to help create a next level experience for Bills Mafia.”

The Bills have said that less than one percent of all PSL account holders took issue with obstructions. The team believes that any obstructions were “clearly indicated through the virtual experience” that was used to market the PSLs, but they will work with anyone who has complaints on a case-by-case basis.

“However, if anyone felt differently, we’re having those conversations, and we want to make certain at the end of the day that they’re satisfied with their seat,” Bills chief operating officer Pete Guelli told Petro.
