LANDOVER, MD - AUGUST 14: Miami Dolphins quarterback Malik Willis (2) hands the ball to running back De'Von Achane (28) during the Miami Dolphins preseason game versus the Washington Commanders at Northwest Stadium on August 14, 2026, in Landover, MD. (Photo by Lee Coleman/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images) | Icon Sportswire via Getty Images Last week I asked the following question: Of the various position groups on the 2026-2027 version of the Miami Dolphins, which do you believe are the team’s strengths and which are its weaknesses? Since I asked that the team had participated in a preseason game, some of your answers may have changed, but I suspect that most of us saw what we somehow expected from each unit, as well as from many of the backup units and individual players. Below are some of your thoughts and answers to the question- Yarganaught has chosen to keep their sanity and not guess; just wait and see how it works out year to year.

We’ve had seasons where the Secondary was All-Pro on paper and was a weakness all season long. Last year, people were betting on which Edge guy would hit double-digit sacks first. Achane, his first season, missed a ton of games and was labelled “too small” for the NFL. I’m done trying to guess which players/positions will be a strength/weakness any more, lol.

JKBMia gives props to the ladies who have to feed and keep a bunch of mostly giant men happy. That’s no easy job, and maybe the players can see that level of how to do your job as an example.

Judging by the annual report card, it sounds like the ladies in the cafeteria bring it every single year, every single day. Maybe if Haf put the boys in some hair nets they would follow suit.

Dolfanjoe might not attend the game to watch what’s happening on the field of play.

Strongest: Of course the Cheerleading Unit. Weakest: 1st year Scouting team.

cyberflea has a list of worries for this year’s team but also some strengths.

Strengths of the team are at RB, DT and LB. Top weaknesses are at WR, DB (CB/S) and Edge with QB a question mark until otherwise proven. TE could be another weakness simply because the Dolphins have Dulcich who should be solid but then unproven players behind him. The OL should be improved however if injuries rack up depth will be a concern as with most teams.

JUK sees the linebackers as the strength of the team and the wideouts as the weakness. Thankfully, one of our RBs is also a hell of a receiver. Not that it’s enough, but it’s something, I guess.

Strongest is the LBs. An all pro, a serviceable veteran starter and backup plus a bunch of high upside rookies including J Rod who I think will be a stud. Other units I expect to be decent include the RBs, DTs and health permitting the o line. Weakest is the receiver room. We don’t have a single guy outside Achane who had 400 yards receiving last year, no in who has ever had 700. Secondary and pass rush have a lot to prove too.

Ejplaya likes the RB room but understandably has concerns about our safeties and edge rushers.

Best unit is our rb group. Achane is by far the most talented player on this team. Easy. Worst has to be the safeties. Potential, yes. But no proven starters. Edge is a close second.

StanleyDoyle1 is concerned about the pass rush and maybe QB.

The most glaring weakness will be the lack of a pass rush. After that, QB. But at least Willis will make it interesting/entertaining with his athleticism.

PA phinphan, like many of us, is concerned about the depth along the offensive line.

The central defense DT and LB are strengths along with RB and QB on offense. The weaknesses are o-line (lack of depth), DBs and WRs (too many unknowns at this point).

krammm also knows that the pass rush for this team might be lacking this coming season.

This year could be a record low in the amount of sacks we get. “Your team is only as good as it’s 4th quarter pass rush.” Bill Walsh

Phoenix6 is another concerned about the wideouts and the secondary.

Wide Receiver & Secondary are the weakest, especially after a great turnover. Linebacker & the Offensive line is the primary position groups of strength. Anchored by standout tackle leader Jordyn Brooks, while the trenches are bolstered by All-Pro center Aaron Brewer. Evening fish bait…

MiamiItaliano is worried about the offensive line’s ability to pass block effectively.

Strengths: linebackers, running backs Weaknesses: WR, O-linemen that can’t pass block well, DB’s (but maybe Hafley can coach them up quick since that’s his specialty) I know some people will say QB but I think Malik has matured since his Titans days and will be above average.

Dave21 believes that the defense will be the standout of the three units this year.

My guess will be the Offense will be the weaker of the 2 sides of the ball, but both sides have some strong points. Barring injury I would expect by mid season the running game should be solid once the OL has time to gel together in actual game speed reps, but the WR core is not great and the QB is unproven so I would expect them to lag a bit. The Defensive front 7 should be the stronger point and that’s based on our DL having a full season and off season to prep and now know what they have to be ready for and to expect. Well other than Seiler. It took Seiler about 3-4 years to be avg and another to be good. I would expect around the same for our boys, but I would expect to see some solid growth from Grant this year, with next year being his real jump. LB should be very solid in the middle of the field and pass rush should be solid. Teams will focus more on Chop allowing the other side to show what they are made of. The secondary…. We will have to wait and see. I would guess we will see some hybrid schemes a lot like Weaver used to keep an extra DB floating around or an extra Saftey. I have Staci don’t expect much this season, but I do hope to see growth as the season moves on.

finfanfromsiam didn’t have any input on the QOTD but did choose to take a shot at Coach.

Coach in his crocs?

Well, that’s our list of weaknesses and strengths for this coming year’s version of the Dolphins. Hopefully all the units we expect to be good are, and that the weaknesses improve as the season goes along, setting us up for the 2027-2028 season and beyond. As always, thank you to each of you who took the time to answer our Phinsider Question Of The Day.
